Kerry Voted for Cuban Sanctions

Before Voted Against Them.

Then, reaching back eight years to one of the more significant efforts to toughen sanctions on the communist island, Kerry volunteered: “And I voted for the Helms-Burton legislation to be tough on companies that deal with him.” There is only one problem: Kerry voted against it. Asked Friday to explain the discrepancy, Kerry aides said the senator cast one of the 22 nays that day in 1996 because he disagreed with some of the final technical aspects. But, said spokesman David Wade, Kerry supported the legislation in its purer form — and voted for it months earlier.

Yup. The man simply has to tell his audience of the moment whatever he thinks it wants to hear.

Some day, hopefully a long time from now, John Kerry will realize that in the age of the Internet, there are no more audiences-of-the-moment, distinct from the Big Audience that sees all, remembers all, and never shuts up about any of it. Let us hope his retinas are not ruined by the blinding flash.

Yeah, we’ve heard that one before. “I voted for it before I voted against it.”

Knowing what we know about JFK’s voting record, is it any wonder he’s tring to run on his long antiquated war record?

Wonder or not, he can’t escape his record of being Jean-Francois Kerry

In a 2002 conversation, Kerry told me he thought it would be doubly advantageous that “I fought in Vietnam and I also fought against the Vietnam War,” apparently not recognizing that some would see far too much political calculation in such a bifurcated record.

Kerry and Cuba

We know Kerry voted for sanctions on Cuba before he voted against them.
