How much of bounce

Filed under: General — by Jane Novak at 12:39 pm on Tuesday, September 21, 2004

can we expect as Allawi expresses appreciation for the sacrifices of the troops, the determination of the Iraqi people to achieve democracy, appreciation to President Bush for his unwavering support, and that Iraq is actually succeeding on its path to democracy and is defeating the terrorists? 3 points overall? tipping those swing states on the fence? turning New Jersey into a red state?

A bounce would have to follow actual reporting of it, so your three points sounds optimistic. It’s an informed electorate that is the lynchpin of democracy, after all.

The hard core Democrats have decided that the existing Iraqi government is a “puppet” government, so they won’t care. And Doug is right about the undecideds in that there won’t be enought news coverage to matter. I saw it reported well on Fox News tonight (Brit Hume interviewed Allawi), but I’m not optimistic about the rest of the networks or newspapers.
