Half Truths from the Left
One of the most influential people in America this election season is Hungarian George Soros who has dumped millions into left wing, anti-war, anti-Bush groups in an effort to promote his near socialist agenda. Behind the curtain of “non-partisan groups” Soros continues his manipulation of the American electorate through ads, websites, concerts and partisan voter registration efforts. The Washington Times today reports that there is an investigation into some of the organizations he indirectly funds. The NY Times makes no note of Soros, and I’m guessing CBS won’t mention the investigation either.
WTimes: Billionaire currency trader George Soros, in his quest to unseat President Bush, has given millions of dollars to a coalition of anti-Bush organizations whose nationwide voter-registration drive has been targeted by state and federal authorities for possible widespread fraud. ..America Votes, which represents a collection of labor unions, trial lawyers, environmental groups and community organizations representing 20 million Americans, describes itself as a “nonpartisan political organization”….ACT was founded in August 2003 when Mr. Soros announced he was giving $10 million to the organization to ensure that Mr. Bush was not re-elected. At the time, he called ACT “an effective way to mobilize civil society, to convince people to go to the polls and vote for candidates who will reassert the values of the greatest open society in the world.”
The New York Times also does an article on the flood of money into these organizations but somehow omits George Soros totally in its long, long article.: New York Times: And unlike the major parties and the 527’s, the nonpartisan groups cannot promote a candidate or make political statements without endangering their tax status. But they can have much the same effect by emphasizing “hot button” issues that may tend to help a particular candidate, or by simply turning out groups that tend to vote overwhelmingly for one party or the other…The members of a new coalition of charities called the National Voice, for example, are pumping $80 million into motivating voters who are more likely to help Mr. Kerry.
