Not because I agree with you and can turn up for cosy wee chats with other like-minded people. No, but because you are open to argument and discussion and are courteous enough to let others, at least, speak their mind. After all, isn't that what the US establishment says it holds most dear. You a very good example of these old-style US traditions. One of my heroes (if you like) is Henry David Thoreau, and his 'Walden' is sublime. Well, talk about being in touch with the world around you and not taking any crap from authority. Brilliant! It was the very first comment I ever posted to your site, was the American Transcedentalist view that it isn't the world that changes, it's us. A missed opportunity for a discussion about US philosophical traditions.
