Saddam’s Generals in Yemen Encouraged the Yemeni Jihad on the Shia

Filed under: Yemen — by Jane Novak at 7:26 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2005

from Jafariya News the largest Shia news website in the world.

Sayyed Assam Al-Imad, Chief of Supreme Shiia Council in Yemen, has revealed to Iranian news agency IRNA the crimes that were committed against Shiias in the country and the Yemeni government-imposed complete media darkness over this.

According to Sayyed Al-Imad, elements of ousted Saddam regime that fled from Iraq are working in the Yemeni military, and that they began their work as military advisors in the army one year back.

He added that these military men advised Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh to kill Shiias in the country as did Saddam in Iraq. He said the Yemeni government acting upon this advice issued orders to tear and burn all Shiia books including Nahj-ol Balagha – a compilation of sermons and sayings of holy Prophet (p)’s cousin and son-in-law and caliph of Muslims Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (p) – and As-Sahifah As-Sajjadiyah – a collection of supplications of holy Prophet (p)’s fourth infallible descendant Al-Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein Zain-ol Abideen (p) which is also known as Psalms of Aal-i-Muhammad (p).

Then they go on to quote extensively my World Press.org article, (Yemen 11) without using my name. It was funny I started reading and thinking : oh good somebody else is finally figuring it out. Then I realize its me. So I sent them Yemen 12 and all the footnotes for both. And good regards from the American conservatives. Update: They published the footnotes as a letter to the editor. Good. I want somebody bigger than me to steal the story. Im very happy they did that.

Hopefully they’ll get up to speed on the al-Qaeda sponsored Ba’athist training camps in Yemen for terrorists to back to Iraq and target Shia civilians and US troops.

Dear Jane, what disturbs me is that the Al Imad has told what he said to the news agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran…

Keith, dude, I cant believe I’m the only one following this. I’d rather be gardening but until the MSM picks it up, I feel obligated.

Stef, I think the Iraqis are kind of busy and no one else with media contacts will listen to them.

But the Islamic Republic is a genocidal regime as well..They should ask for help to the democratic world, not to the Iranian Mullahs.

Sorry, I am not much informed. :(

Stefie no problem.

I dont think they are asking for help as much as borrowing the news service to get out the truth. Their own news service is heavily censored. This article helps me greatly.

They did ask for help from the West and I think the US in particular. I dont see anything happened.

Also, I send all my time trying to refute the notion that Saleh is a reforming democrat and a nice guy when he is a brutal dictator. I feel like Im the only one in theWest that understand whats goin on there. Thats why Im working so hard everyday on this story. The fact that there are Iraqi generals in the Yemeni miliatry (which is hooked to al-qaeda) slaughtering Shiites should be headline news, along iwth the training camps. And its not just the Shiites repressed, everybody who is not corrupt andpart of the problem is a target, everybody. The US is calling it a model for reform and no one, no one has any rights. Its like a shell of a democracy but inside is a brutal jungle and i mean brutal, bloody, heartless, and cruel.

I have exactly the same reaction to the Iranians as you but their news service is the only one in the world reporting on Yemen. To the rest of the world the country is invisable.

You know dear, the Mullahs of Iran only want to influence the situation in the neighboring countries.

You know, I am with you 100% when it comes to the crimes that the regime of Saleh is committing, but I also hope and think that most of the victims of Saleh’s brutality have no links with the Mullahs of Iran.
