Yemen: The GPC’s Tactic of Cloning the Oppositon

Filed under: Yemen — by Jane Novak at 9:58 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2005

Not only does the Yemeni government “clone” false oppostion parties and issue look alike oppostion newspapers,

but now theres a oppostion statement issued by not-the-real opposition but instead a sound alike “Council”

(Its just out and out trickery perpetrated on the Yemeni public to disenfranchise them from the opposition):

The ruling party GPC’s newspaper in Aden, “May 22,” had a headline: “Opposition Nominates its Presidency Candidate

but its wasn’t referring to the actual oppositon coalition, the Joint Meeting Parties, but rather to an assortment of similiarly named small “opposition” parties beholden to the GPC for its considerable financial support.

So of course, the bogus opposition “Council” nominated as its candidate….Saleh!

(BTW: My article Yemeni Elections 2006: A Fraud in the Making is at Front Page Magazine. It was written before Saleh’s announcement not to run. But the points about the law, the oppression of policital parties, and the domination of the ruling party remain valid. )

Thanks a lot dear Jane Novak, I mean u always paint very great picture about Yemen particularly in FrontPage magazine.
U wrote that article about Yemen 2006 election after ali saleh announced he wont run in the coming election (by the way u did not talk about such important decision??), means you r not much on democracy and development in Yemen rather (I don’t want to say like what most of Yemenis used to, that u r just paid up by socialist party or others, or that u r just working with CIA) whatever it may be, it just means one thing .u don’t care about Yemen’s development and prosperity.

It is very easy for one to analyze and understand what u want to reach, well, you are saying every thing bad about Yemen government (of course no logic here because must there are many good things Yemen government does) on the other hand you are talking about opposition parties as if they r angels and saviors will bring all progress and prosperity to Yemen (no logic again because we know many of them are against the unification of Yemen and we know most of them are just doing trouble around the gates of Israel and others embassies and around foreign intelligences (Mukhabarat) those of the bottle of bottles)

Dear Jane if some people think they reached the point of queen check against ali saleh on the chessboard, well we can ensure they are totally wrong even if some could infiltrate the horses of the queen!!

True ali saleh is the smartest but that is not the only thing helping him to overcome devils in Yemen. What helps him most is his sincerity and honesty and his well for doing what is best for Yemenis including (leaving and give the chance for new blood to rule). Similarly on the other hand what makes people in social party and others fail is not just their stupidity but their falseness and dishonesty against Yemen and Yemenis.

Any way I think the message of the latest demonstrations were enough for all parties either on the left side of the chessboard or EVEN inside the right side.

Hey I have question, I hope u answer frankly, I know you are on Middle East affairs (not just Yemen), well, why don’t u write about the royal family in Saudi Arabia, in Kuwait and others? Knowingly countries like Saudi Arabia is that holding the middle east back regarding democracy and human rights and women rights as well, due to its geopolitical importance, if happens real democracy takes place in Saudi Arabia then every thing will change around it in middle east, therefore I am asking where is the geostrategic vision in your work if really on progress in middle east.

Paying attention on royals and oligarchies is much better than just looking at what the historic man of Yemen doing…

Hey Yassin,
Is this what you come up with? BEING PAID BY whom? The socialist party!!! For God sake, have some logic dude!! The GPC has the whole resources. And whom? The CIA!!! Why? Ha ha !! If the CIA wants some thing, the president will give it to them directly or shall I remind you with what happened to Alharethi in Marib. Have a little respect to our mind.
I agree with you in one point that she writes about all the bad things in Yemen but Do you know why? Coz Arabia Felix (the old name of Yemen) is not happy any more and this is attributed to the Historic leader.
I am a Yemeni by the way and I can not recall any opposition party within Yemen demands for the separation. A little advice man! Convey real information rather than spreading propaganda.
Peace,

Oh yaseen, if you get any stupider, I may have to issue a fatwah on your ass.

Everyone knows Saudi Arabia is a duplicitous Islamofascistpricktocracy. Not everyone realizes that Yemen’s government is too. Your government is no ally of ours, despite what your pathetic Saleh bleats.

Now go home, your goat’s horny.
