First, Said Jane at Armies of Liberation writes about advances for freedom in Yemen, which hopefully means something good for the rest of the Arab world. Next, Cody Herche at lega redux writes about the continuing efforts of the government of China to stifle freedom of expression. Finally, Mensa Barbie shares some words on freedom from the Dalai Lama.
Dear Jane,
I wish I could have -0% of optimism towards this soldier. Try to just have a look at two of his colleagues Mubark of Egypt and Lahoud of Lebanon and their reaction towards democracy and the will of people. This is the bellicose mentality that we’ve been experiencing since soldiers left their barracks in the early 1950s in Middle East. They are ready to defer their people, development programs, health care, and education for power, money and selfish interests. Unfortunately they are hopeless and I can’t see them giving up their privileges peacefully. Could you imagine for a second that these ill minded soldiers would give up the palaces and extravagant life paid by the sweat and blood of the poor? There is no dialogue that can reach their ruthless brains. Saddam compared to them is an angle. Though, the whole world tried to convince him to save Iraq and people of Iraq, but in vain.
I hope your dreams and ours too will become real.
Best wishes,
Abdallah
