Head of Central Security, Yahya Saleh, Creates Stooge NGO

The Yemeni regime is just so funny, in their own completely bizarre way.

They announce a new forum for “intellectuals.” Its headed by Yahya Saleh who al-Motamar fails to identify as the head of Central Security and Saleh’s nephew (bio to follow).

almotamar.net – An elite group of Yemeni academics, intellectuals and innovative have Thursday declared in Sana’a a civil organisation of “Progress & Advancement Forum.

In the founding meeting of the forum the representative of the ministry of social affairs and labour read out names of the founder, members who unanimously elected Mr. Yahya Mohammed Abdullah Saleh as chairman of the forum.

The Forum’s meeting elected the executive bureau members and the monitoring committee.

The meeting has discussed some articles of the law of procedures of the forum and was approved by the general assembly. The declaration of the new organisation came as a product of discussions among the founder members lasted for several months after the maturity of the idea of and concept of progress and advancement and in the manner of effecting advancement and progress that includes the Yemeni home; and human.

In his speech, the chairman of the forum Yahya Mohammed Abdullah Saleh said,” With the convening of our forum for the declaration of the establishment of Progress and Advancement Forum and approval of the documents we have taken a significant step for achievement of our wishes and ambitions for living in a homeland that we and our history deserves taking into account that our ancestors had contributed seriously to the human civilization,” pointing out to what the yemen previous man had offered of creative examples in innovating solutions through which he overcame the difficult circumstances that were surrounding him.

Yahya Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, head of the Central Security Forces, is president Saleh’s nephew. He is also the secretary general of the Yemeni Baath Party, according to the Yemen Observer, and hosted a condolences service after Saddam Hussain’s execution. Yahya Saleh heads an organization dedicated to supporting the Lebanese and Palestinian causes with charitable contributions, the Yemeni Public Committee to Support the Resistance. A symposium at Sanaa University organized by the Yemeni Popular Committee to Support Palestinian, Lebanon, Iraqi Resistance featured Sheikh Harith al-Dhari, head of the Iraqi Muslim Scholars Association, who is wanted in Iraq for colluding with insurgents, At the symposium in December 2006, Yahya Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, “praised the Iraqi resistance that could prove itself and cause loses to the occupation forces. He considered the siege imposed by the US on Iraq as a clear example of the hostility of the US and its allies,” al-Motamar, website of the GPC reported. Yahya Mohammed Abdullah Saleh is also chairman of the Yemeni Society of Tourism and Travel Agencies. And now he’s head of the Progress and Advancement Forum. Did I mention the Central Security contains one of the counter-terrorism units?
