Website reblocked, Military gunmen raid newspaper

Al-Ishtraki.net blocked again

July 29, 2007- The editing board of Al-Ishtraki.net has declared that its website was blocked again after it was released early of the current month.

“The Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology re-blocked Al-Ishtraki.net, the mouthpiece of the Yemeni Social Party “it added.

It also pointed out that constant abuse and restrictions came after the website was blocked for 2 days without legal reason. Al-Ishatraki.net claimed the parliament to monitor the government’s behavior and release the website.

Yet more gunmen in military vehicles….

al-Sahwa:

July 30, 2007-Gunmen riding two military vehicles raided on Monday al-Shari newspaper and manipulated its contents.

The editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Naïf Hassan, affirmed the reality of the event, pointing out that he was threatened of death.

For his part, the secretary general of the Yemeni Journalist Syndicate ,Marwan Dmaj asked the Interior Minister to protect journalists and held the involved accountable .

The parliamentarian Foad Dhaba denounced this act, saying that such behaviors disclose falsified masks of the authorities.
