Rally in Sana’a, Another in Dhalie
August 28, 2007- Thousands of people in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, rallied before the cabinet ,protesting soaring prices ,deteriorated public services, violating of rights and freedoms and mistaken policies adopted by the ruling party’s consequent governments.
During the sit-in ,the spokesmen of the Joint Meeting Parties, Mohammad al-Sabri ,stressed that they would go on carrying out their all-out political and national agenda .
” We will commit treason against our nation if we stayed silent against corruption , injustice and repression ” al-Sabri said ,expressing deep concern as the ruling party (GCC) accused them in its statement of working against the national principles.
Al-Sabri considered in his address before the protesters that corruption , authoritarianism poses real threats against the national unit.
The representative of the JMP parliamentary bloc , Ali al-Ansi, strongly condemned in his speech kidnapping of the prominent Yemeni journalist , Abdul-Karim al-Khaiwani on Thursday and beating him, demanding, in the meantime , the government to address all deteriorated public services .

A group of youths called themselves “Jobless Youths Society” in al-Dalei province organized a protest on Monday against unemployment and asking for free education, scholarships, better health services and decent living standards.
The protesters shouted ” with soul and blood we sacrifice the south” and condemned policies of “the ruling party, president and prime minister”.
Like the Pensioned Coordination Council, newly formed in southern Yemen to defend rights of pensioners of military and civil service, the head of the Jobless Youths Society” Ali Abdul-Rab called all jobless youths in the country to form a coordination council including all societies of jobless youths across the country.
Abdul-Rab said the protests will go on “until youth of Yemen get their rights of employment, free education, opportunities of education abroad and fair distribution of the country’s resources.
“We want to enjoy the resources of this country which are a gift from Allah, not from anyone else”, said Abdul-Rab. “Our country is full of affluences which go to pockets of corrupts”.
He said that youths have been deprived from the state lands in Sinah in al-Dalei while the power corrupts took the possession of all lands.
Member of the Preparatory Committee for the Jobless Youths Society Fadhel al-Alqa said that al-Dalei which hosted the peaceful protests of pensioners and this protest of jobless youths will try to deliver the voices to all provinces of the country.
Youths are strong enough to give corrupts a lesson in peaceful protests and not to let them corrupt the country’s wealth anymore, he said.
