Alleged Yemeni Spy, Amen Ahmed Ali, May Make Bail

My question about this case was always, why CW suits? Just because they were there? I get the night vision and body armour. It was only one suit I think, nonetheless it fits. Sometime in 2005 I think it was, three guys were arrested in Yemen and convicted of trying to smuggle gas masks to the Houthi rebel fighters in Sa’ada for use in a defensive capacity.

The article fails to note Ali was working as the Yemeni consul in California, is a former Yemeni military officer and used the consul’s fax, I think it was, to transmit information to interested parties in Yemen. One other person was indicted along with him and another was never apprehended as far as I can tell.

Bakerfield: A Bakersfield man accused of espionage and trying to ship stolen U.S. military equipment to Yemen may be released from jail for the first time in two years.

Amen Ali’s family and friends have been working for a year and a half to accumulate $1.5 million in real estate to guarantee Ali’s release.

On Monday, Federal Court Judge Anthony W. Ishii approved a property bond based on several properties, said Bakersfield Defense Attorney David Torres, one of Ali’s attorneys….
