Saleh Urges Real Dialog
Perhaps you buffoon, if there had been electoral reform as promised in 2006 and under the guidance of the EU, then the growing tensions would have been short circuited by authentically contested Parliamentary elections. Duh!
Are we all getting the causal relationship between the delayed elections and the uptick in tensions? The elections were delayed because…Saleh lied again.
Why would anyone, anywhere believe Saleh? Everything is smoke and mirrors, lies, propaganda and threats. Closing the newspapers while calling for dialog is the supreme example of hypocrisy.
As Situation Worsens, Saleh Urges Dialogue Under Democracy Umbrella
As the situation worsens with unrest claiming lives and leading to mass arrests in south and the volatile war about to resume again in north, President Ali Abdullah Saleh called Tuesday for a true dialogue among the political spectrum to tackle crucial issues in the country without any political bids.
At the opening of the seventh General Conference of the People’s Congress Party, Yemen’s ruling party, Saleh affirmed that dialogue is the best solution for Yemen’s problems, urging a serious dialogue under the democracy umbrella. He expressed his astonishment over what has been said that the 1994 civil war did not solve the problem, saying problems wherever and whenever come they should not be looked into through a secessionist and violent prism.
” We should put the interest of the nation ahead of all other interests and none can harm the country unity as it is so far away from harm attempts.”
The authorities do their utmost to develop this country and they are well aware of what violence could result in, he said.
In the meeting coinciding with unrest in south and war developments in north, Saleh called on the Yemeni people to drop the culture of hatred and work together to deal with their concerns.
Meanwhile, the Joint Meeting Parties, the opposition coalition in Yemen, welcomed any real and serious dialogue to pull the country out of what could undermine what has been achieved since the reunification in 1990.
Head of the Supreme Council of the JMP Sultan Al-Atwani said opposition is with what can serve the people’s interest and avoid harming the national unity.
