I see all of Yemen as suffering from the same crisis, but the southerners are reacting differently.

I am Yemeni and strongly against seccession of any part of Yemen. However, I realise that the people who are so angry in the south and wish to seccede have not seen much development of their land under the cronies of the post unification regime. I am not singling out the president for criticism, but all those in his regime from both north and south who are so damned corrupt they only care about filling their pockets. If they cared so much about Yemen, we would become one of the foremost Arab nations. Sanaa is a historic and important capital, and Aden simply the best port in the Arab world, and one of the best in the world. So why has such a great place come to nothing after more than a decade?

The problem is that many in the south have the mentality of crooks, they seek positions of authority in order to enrich themselves and their lifestyles, and at the same time use and abuse the homeland, paying no respect for law or order. Many policemen are crooks, taking daily bribes, and are often central to the running of crime rings because of their handy positions. I am not surprised these crooks have no qualm about shooting a few demonstrators dead. Yemeni kills Yemeni for what?!
