Yemeni Military Rejects Humanitarian Cease Fire Announced by Government
The Yemeni military is beyond the command and control of the executive and, as in previous cease fires and mediated settlements in Sa’ada , is not acting in accord with the stated policies of the central government. The following analysis lays the blame for the failure of the current humanitarian cease fire at the feet of General Ali Mohsen al Ahmar who the article states ordered intensified attacks after the announcement of the suspension of hostilities. This has been going on since 2005- the government announces one thing and the army does another. Is it intentional duplicity on behalf of the regime or does Saleh lack the authority to command his army to stand down?
