houthis are mostly zaidis who are anti salafi and wahabi ideology. if they were in control of yemen they would eliminate islamic extremism. president saleh and his regime are in bed with al qaida and do not consider them a threat to themselves so will not eliminate them. why should they as it is a reason for them to get money from the states and europe ( and pocket it) in their claim that they need financial help to fight al qaida.
