Etiawan: Britain’s government says international talks on terrorism in Yemen will likely be squeezed into a two-hour session.
The meeting in London was called amid concern over links between Yemen-based extremists and Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who’s accused of the Christmas Day airliner attack in Detroit.Yemen’s government says Abdulmutallab met al-Qaida operatives there before the failed bombing.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown invited U.S., European and other officials for talks Jan. 27 on terrorism in Yemen, training for Yemeni security forces and preventing radicalization there.
Ivan Lewis, an official in Britain’s Foreign Office, told lawmakers Tuesday the meeting would last about two hours, and involve foreign ministers _ not national leaders.
