This poor guy has been surrounded for some time with no reinforcements or resupply, and he said in another interview that twice he refused orders to surrender to al Qaeda. There’s no way the US doesn’t know that Saleh et al are playing the al Qaeda card. Despite the total absence of US public diplomacy in Yemen, the message to 22 million Yemenis is loud and clear.

Sahwa Net- Commander of the 25th Mechanized Brigade in the Zinjibar city of Abyan governorate has said that Yemen security forces withdrew from Zinjbar and left behind large quantities of arms which al-Qaeda militants gained.

On a phone interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Gen. Mohmmad Al-Sawmali, commander of 25th Mechanized Brigade, affirmed that the brigade is currently being surrounded by Al-Qaeda militants.

He appointed they appealed Yemen’s military authorities to help them , but they still disregard their appeals and leave them face their fate.

He said that Al-Qaeda militants attempted to capture the brigade several times, but they failed, pointing out that they would not surrender to Al-Qaeda and they would fight until the last drop of their blood.

“We kill large numbers of al-Qaeda operatives, but Al-Qaeda could recruit new local and international members, in particular operatives from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Somalia” added he.

Asked about the arms of Al-Qaeda, Alsamouli said that after withdrawal of security forces from Zinjibar, Al-Qaeda gained huge quantities of heavy and light weapons.
