Sana’a security agencies had arrested yesterday three persons; one of them has an Arab nationality, possessing a Yemeni counterfeit currency of more than 100.000 Yr.

Well-known sources stated to (26sep.net) that the three men had been arrested yesterday in Al-Zaraqain’s security checkpoint, when they used a fake currency for buying qat in the qat market. The qat’s seller, after he had found out that money used for buying qat was counterfeit, informed immediately the security checkpoint in the area.

The sources also revealed that the security had found out about 103.000 Yr of a Yemeni counterfeit currency possessed by the three suspects when they tried to escape from the capital Sana’a by a car.

The information confirmed on Monday morning that the security has enabled to seize a machine used for printing counterfeit currency in the suspect’s house, a Palestinian nationality, who inhabited in Mathbah area.

The Sana’a security agencies have still conducted investigations with the three suspects to refer them to the judiciary.

Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) security forces seized a large amount of drugs at the Arabian Sea on its way to be smuggled to the KSA on a boat coming from Pakistan last Tuesday, said security sources.

Security sources said that the joint security operations in the two countries resulted after numerous sailors were apprehended in possession of contraband.

In the beginning of February, Yemen and Saudi joint forces arrested a major international gang involved in producing counterfeit money, and drug dealing. Sources told the Sep 26 website that the members of the gang are from Yemen, Saudi, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Kenya, and that members of the gang were arrested In Sana’a, Aden, and Jeddah, possessing large amounts of drugs and counterfeit money. They were able to phish approximately million Saudi Rial into banks.

Counterfeiting often accompanies drug smuggling

SANA’A (26 September Net) - The 26 September Net has learned that Yemeni security forces along with Saudi ones have arrested during the last few days an international and dangerous band deal with currency counterfeiting and drug trafficking .

Well-known sources revealed that the band’s members hold multi-nationalities; Yemeni, Saudi, Pakistani, Afghani and Kenyan. They have been arrested in Sana’a, Aden and Jeddah with a numerous amounts of drugs and faked currencies as well as KSA 1 million riyal.

The sources noted that this operation marked the successful one under the cooperation between the Yemeni–Saudi security forces for combating drugs and faked currencies as well as in the field of combating terrorism.

180 persons tried for counterfeiting official documents

SANA’A, Jan. 01 (Saba) - The Specialist Penal Court began on Tuesday its first session to try 180 persons accused of counterfeiting official documents and certificates as well as issuing forging
stamps of governmental authorities during 1997-2005.

Moreover, some of them have been also accused of bribery and using illegal influence to replace official documents with another faked ones in addition to misusing their high positions to ease forgers works.

In the first session, the court ordered the prosecution to summon about 159 accused persons to attend the next session to be held in the mid of this month.

Security forcers arrest 5 persons on forged visas

SANA’A, Dec 13(Saba)- Security forces have arrested five persons working in a Hajj and Umrah agency on the charges of being involved in forged visas for Yemeni citizens would be Hajjis.

A security source said the defendants were arrested after the Saudi authorities discovered forged visas with 49 Yemeni peoples at the al-Tewal border.

According to the source, the Saudi embassy in Sana’a had given the visas to Yemeni laborers previously.

Saudi authorities in Al-Tiwal outlet have prevented 52 Yemenis from entering the holy lands to perform pilgrimage (Haj) in Mecca.

Saudi authorities claimed the visas were false, sources told NewsYemen.

After we received entry visas from Yemeni authorities, the Saudi authorities alleged they visas are counterfeited, said one of the pilgrims Mohammed Sufian al-Homaiqani. He said that he and other 51 pilgrims hold visas approved by Saudi authorities.

Aden security seizes drugs, counterfeiters:

Nov. 24 – Yemeni security apparatuses in Aden arrested several suspects involved in trafficking and distributing drugs and counterfeit money from different countries.

Aden security director Abdullah A. Qirat reported that security forces arrested suspects carrying 55.1 grams of hashish. Additionally, the suspects were trafficking and distributing drugs and hashish substances.

Security forces further arrested a group of foreigners possessing counterfeit money from countries including the United States and Saudi Arabia. The source did not identify the foreigners’ nationalities. Qirat confirmed that all suspects and their possessions have been referred to the appropriate prosecution to be tried judicially.

November 20, 2007 -The Central Organization for Control and Auditing has referred in the end of October some officials in Haja province to the general prosecution in order to investigate them in the wake of issuing accusations against them by the local authorities.

The head of COCA revealed corruption cases and financial breaches totaled YR 34 million in 2003.

It explained that the officials are involved in seizing of public money, counterfeiting formal documents and other financial and administrative breaches.

COCA asked in its document to the Attorney-General to hold all the involved officials accountable.

Iraqis in Yemen to Document Identity

Iaqis staying in Yemen complain that they can no longer find jobs and their children cannot go to school or university, as they are unable to obtain passports under new conditions set by the Foreign Ministry of Iraq.

Two weeks ago, the Iraqi embassy in Sana’a announced that three kinds of Iraqi passports (called H, M, and N) have become null and void, and that Iraqis in Yemen who carry these passports must apply for new ones.
